Land deals in India to drop 25%: C&W

??|?? June 29, 2012 ?? 10:32am ??|Contributed by MANOJa

Hit by a demand slump in the residential sector, India is likely to witness around 25% decline in land deals to around Rs 15,000 crore, realty consultant Cushman & Wakefield today said.

The firm also said most of the land purchases would be done by regional smaller players instead of big developers.

?The market sentiment is very negative. This year we may see land deals worth Rs 15,000 crore happening across various locations in the country,? Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) Executive Managing Director (South Asia) Sanjay Dutt told PTI on the sidelines of CII realty summit here.
According to C&W, India had seen land deals worth Rs 20,000 crore in 2011, he added.

Dutt said out of the expected transactions, Rs 7000-8000 crore have already taken place.

When asked about the locations, he said: ?NCR and Mumbai will alone account for 60-70%of the total deals, along with some top tier I cities. Some tier II cities will also witness some deals.?

Most of the land purchases will be done by regional smaller players instead of big developers, he added.

He further said organised players like Godrej, Mahindras and L&T will continue to purchase land as and when required.

Talking about the demand, Dutt said sales of housing units have fallen by about 30%across the country in the last one year.

?Some places in Mumbai and NCR prices have gone up tremendously in the last two years. This has led to slowdown in demand,? Dutt said.

Coffee And How To Buy Related Products And Goods

This article has been viewed 23 times.

Coffee has been with us forever and dates back for as long as mankind can remember, it is a social beverage and something that most of us simply could not do without during our daily routines. Now if you are a lover of Coffee you will be aware that there are lots of products that are connected with it and all of them can help us enjoy this great drink, the secret is to know where to find them and how to get the best price for them.

The subject of coffee products is one that covers a huge number of goods such as wholesale coffee mugs, Gourmet Coffees and also coffee pots, as with a variety of other topics food and drink information is best obtained from an expert.

A coffee specialist will supply anyone with better information than say a general food and drink directory, specialists know coffee goods inside out will be able to give you better information on merchandise like coffee making machines or even insulated coffee pots.

For many years coffee guides have been published all over the web and the subject of beverages is now easier than ever for buyers to look into, say you wanted a food and drink review on a Kenyan sampler packets, such a thing may appear on one of the many categorised coffee portals.

Also when browsing for a coffee you should think about this, if you purchased a bunn stainless steel coffee blender but was not happy with the item would the coffee vendor be happy to part exchange the merchandise for a barista coffee maker or make a mutually acceptable arrangement? you must select a coffee company you have some confidence in or a coffee vendor that looks professional.

When you start checking out coffee products ensure you make a note of the merchandise you are actually interested in obtaining, for example coffee grinders, gourmet coffee makers, blended coffee packs, be precise as this will be particularly useful later on, then once you have done this you should check out these products by using some of the many beverage websites, by making the list you will save a ton of time because you can easily get lost in a mass of food and drink and coffee connected reviews and write ups.

As with many things in life you should not rush when buying coffee and should take notice of who the real experts are, hopefully now you are armed with the correct information you are ready to hit the net and get some great coffee bargains.

Israel: Child abuse rates in Israel now higher than in US

Reports of child abuse in Israel have steadily grown over the past three years, as the number of reported cases in the US is decreasing, according to recent data the Jerusalem-based Haruv Institute collected and provided to The Jerusalem Post this week.

The data presented by the institute, which not only researches the phenomenon but also provides training to professionals working in the medical, educational and community fields, shows that in Israel in 2010 the number of reported child abuse cases was 18.9 for every 1,000 children, compared to 8.7 for every 1,000 children in 1995. The US figures for 2010 were 10 reports for every 1,000 children, compared to 14.7 reports for every 1,000 children in 1995.

While part of the rise in reporting of child abuse cases in Israel stems from greater awareness among professionals and society as to what constitutes abuse and how to report it, Haruv Institute director Prof. Asher Ben-Arieh said it has more to do with an alarming increase in violence throughout Israeli society in general.

?We are definitely a much more violent society than ever before,? said Ben-Arieh, who before being appointed director of Haruv late last year worked as associate director at the National Council for the Child.

The figures for Israel are based on data collected by the NCC and Haruv from child protection officers and social workers.

The US data comes from official sources, as well as professional surveys by researcher David Finkelhor.

Ben-Arieh, who has been researching and writing about cases of child abuse for many years, said that violence levels in society, especially those related to violence against children, are often connected to poverty and economic worries among other issues.

He said research shows that when parents are stressed about money issues, they typically have less patience and shorter fuses when dealing with their children. Israel?s poverty levels have steadily grown since the onset of the global economic crisis in 2008 and the most recent figures from the National Insurance Institute show that more than 433,000 families lived below the poverty line in 2010. Within that number, some 837,300 children were considered poor; additional data from the Ministry of Welfare and Social Services shows that an estimated 150,000 children are considered at-risk.

Asked whether the reported child abuse cases were mild or severe, Ben-Arieh said that based on the data alone it was extremely hard to determine whether cases being dealt with by social workers involved extreme violence, sexual abuse or negligence by parents.

Since taking over at the institute last last year, Ben-Arieh has focused on raising awareness from the ground up, including providing hands-on training for professionals such as teachers, doctors and educators on how to detect signs of child abuse and how to work with child victims of abuse. Among the programs recently initiated by the institute is a homogenous training program led by community social workers to counsel all members of a family in which abuse has occurred.

The Haruv Institute was founded five years ago by the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation with the goal of becoming a world center for advanced research in the field of child abuse within the family in Israel. The institute works very closely with the Ministries of Welfare and Social Services, Education and Health.

    Akron, Canton & Cleveland, OH ? Arts & Entertainment ? Buzzbin ...

This winter, with none of the luxuries or fan-fare of the latest big-budget productions filmed in Cleveland, two 2009 Kent State University graduates filmed a feature-length independent film ? making their college dream a reality. ?Rued January? is an independent film featuring Northeast Ohio and its talent. It was filmed in just six days, totaling 104 hours on set and made for less than $1,000 by first-time filmmakers Andrew Numbers and DC Evans, who wrote, shot, directed, produced and are currently editing the film.
With principal filming complete, the filmmakers are now editing their film and gearing up for the 2013 film festival circuit. They hope to raise enough money to enter the film in at least 30 film festivals through a fundraising campaign on indiegogo.com.
The film exclusively features local Ohio actors (16 in total), including award winning independent filmmaker Bruno Tatalovic and Emmy-nominated local news reporter Annette Lawless. It also stars impressive talents Zach Griffin, Maria Perossa, Michael David and Christopher Lavdas.
All filming took place in Northeast Ohio and commonly coincided with below freezing conditions during January and February. Locations included: Downtown Cleveland, Avon Lake, Parma, Kent, Cuyahoga Falls, Wickcliffe, Fairlawn and Tallmadge.
?Filming ?Rued January? was literally a dream come true for us,? said DC Evans, filmmaker. ?About five years ago, when we first started writing the script for ?Rued January? as undergraduates at Kent State, we never imagined it turning into what it has become.?
?Rued January? is a crime dramedy set in Northeast Ohio. It?s about a twenty something guy who gets in over his head gambling. To settle his debt, he gets mixed up in a botched robbery and has to work for a local crime boss known as The Chief; or face the wrath of The Chief?s axe.
?This is a feature length film that we were able to make thanks to years of planning, borrowed equipment, quality actors and virtually no budget,? said Andrew Numbers, filmmaker.
The goal of the filmmakers is to continue the momentum and support of Northeast Ohio, making it a community effort to help send them to film festivals.
Evans said, ?We feel like we?ve accomplished the impossible. It?s a statement about what can be done in Northeast Ohio when like-minded people come together and support one another.?
To help support Andrew Numbers and DC Evans? goal of having ?Rued January? represent Northeast Ohio in film festivals across the country, visit www.indiegogo.com/ruedjanuary.
To find out more about ?Rued January,? visit www.facebook.com/ruedjanuary or follow the film on Twitter @ruedjanuary.

Areas of Grey: Sex, Desire, Abuse, and Christianity | The Femonite ...

This post originally appeared on Our Stories Untold and is re-printed here with permission. Stay tuned for part 2 tomorrow.

Our Stories UntoldNote from the editor: The author is remaining anonymous because, as the author stated to me: ?I work with kids. I Google my employers, and I?m sure they Google me. I don?t want to invite the possibility of ever not getting a job, or losing one, because I talked about sex on the Internet once.? Unfortunately this is sadly true in today?s society, which is why I?ve allowed the author to remain anonymous.

Note from the author: This post is a little bit about a previous post on The Femonite and Our Stories Untold about Fifty Shades of Grey and Twilight. Both have been abysmally reviewed and voraciously enjoyed?more about that via your favorite friend, Google. If you haven?t read either book, I think you?ll still digest this post just fine.

When I was growing up, I wasn?t talked to about sex. As a corollary; I was not talked to about sexual abuse, and it was years before I realized that I was abused by a childhood ?friend.? It was longer still before I realized that abuse was ruining my relationships and self-esteem, and longer still before I realized that to get rid of recurring, unwanted touch in my life, I had to be able to articulate what felt comfortable, what crossed my personal boundaries, and what (gasp!) to ask from my partner.

I?m passionate about how we interpret what we read?including the personal stories here?because I carried my story inside for years, and for a variety of reasons. I?m a strong advocate for Reader Response?criticism, for allowing readers to let the personal seep into their interpretations of what they read. Stories tempt us to be didactic?to use them to prove our own points, or to manipulate them into making sense with our worldview. Fun!

But when we approach real, personal stories of abuse and sexuality (which Fifty Shades of Grey,?titillating?though it may be, is not), I believe very strongly in giving the storyteller the final word. If we want for girls to be brave enough to break the silence, we need to lift them up as the ultimate authorities on their own bodies, their own narratives, and their own desires. Sure, sometimes what we need is an expert, or someone who?s been there.?And sometimes, especially after years of being quiet, we need the world to stop asking how past abuse could have been prevented, stop telling us to ditch the loser, stop telling us what our stories mean, or how we can embrace healing. Trust me, victims of abuse consider these possibilities.

We need the world to listen.

Like Katie, I want a happy ending to stories about abuse. Well, actually, we want to stop abuse. Many of the women I know?many of them Christians, some of them Mennonites?have read Fifty Shades of Grey or Twilight. Each of these women is intelligent, well-read, successful, and strong-willed. They are made of sturdier stuff than the women they devour in fiction.

But our best friends and mothers are STILL reading these books. Why?

    1. We?re still reading these books because?: We can write it off as voyeurism. Look no further than the church?s official stance, prayerful consideration, or sometime assault on the place of GLBTQ individuals in our congregations and public or their right to sexual expression. As a collective, we somehow believe that what happens between you and your most intimate partners is a matter of public interest. We need to hold you against our own sexual orientation or?as is the case in question?our sexual tastes. Ruth Marston reminds us in her recent post how this began:

?For a couple of millennia abstinence and celibacy were upheld as the ideal models for Christian sexual practice.? Marriage was offered for those who must be depraved enough to be sexually active.? Those relationships outside of marriage were labeled fornication or adultery. This model however fails to provide adequate protection against sexual violence.?

I?ve heard numerous sermons describing the church?s stance on issues of sex and relationships as a means of protecting the church body from heartbreak, from disease, from abuse?any number of very real, very sex-specific consequences. I believe that a new model by which we will protect our congregations from sexual violence also requires that we not perpetrate sexual violence by ostracizing people who quest to experience intimacy that is meaningful to them.I believe that the church can be a community where women and men are supported in a search for an intimacy that is not one-size-fits-all, but we?ll not get there by tip-toe.

2.We?re still reading these books because?: We can see through the character?s predicament into our own. Perhaps, unlike Ana in Fifty Shades of Grey, you are not in a relationship in which your partner experiences arousal from causing you pain. You likely still know the challenges and rewards of balancing your own desires with the desires of other people. Our own experiences may not be quite so dramatic as in BDSM romance novels?but sometimes, they really are.

    A BDSM collar.

As women grow, as we enter and fall out of relationships, we need candid conversations about the unmatched importance of knowing your own sexual boundaries and desires if we are going to be able to act well as agents in our intimate relationships. What?s more, we need to be presented with a portrait of sexuality?healthy sexuality?that goes beyond what the stories we?ve been told. Three of the places we get information on sex?the church, media, and porn?each with their own nuanced spin describe sex as something as something it is, but isn?t. Attractive? Magical? Easy? If the church doesn?t weigh in, someone else will. And when the leading information source on sex is pornography, we?re bound to feel inadequate in our experiences.

No couple?s sexual experiences will be completely static or completely fluid, completely without disappointments or completely made up of them. As our church members grow up, they need to hear a candor from our elders that this is to be expected, even celebrated.

For some people, kinky stuff is a viable, enjoyable, communicative, consensual?even ideal way of relating sexually. ?And for others, it?s totally gross and creepy. But inherently unbiblical? I think not.

These books, and books like them invite readers into a world where they meet characters who encounter, explore, and, ultimately, survive situations that might resonate with them. We read to live.

?Stay tuned tomorrow for points 3-6 addressing why our best friends and mothers are STILL reading these books.

(AP) ? A raging Colorado wildfire that forced tens of thousands to flee destroyed an estimated 346 homes this week, making it the most destructive fire in the state's history, officials said Thursday.

From above, the destruction becomes painfully clear: Rows and rows of houses were reduced to smoldering ashes even as some homes just feet away survived largely intact.

On one street, all but three houses had burned to their foundations, said Ryan Schneider, whose home is still standing in a neighborhood where 51 others were destroyed.

"I was real happy at first. My wife was happy," he said. "The emotion of seeing the other homes, though, was instant sadness."

The aerial photos showing the scope of one of the worst fires to hit the American West in decades did little to help ease the concerns of many residents who still did not know the fate of homes.

Amid the devastation in the foothills of Colorado Springs, there were hopeful signs. Flames advancing on the U.S. Air Force Academy were stopped and cooler conditions could help slow the fire.

As of mid-day Thursday, the fire was 10 percent contained. The cost of fighting the blaze had already reached $3.2 million.

Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach said the 346 estimate could change. A fire in northern Colorado, which is still burning, destroyed 257 homes and until Thursday was the most destructive in state history.

For now, Bach said, the news of the destruction would make it very difficult for the city about 60 miles south of Denver.

"This is going to be a tough evening, but we're going to get through it," Bach said. "This community is going to surround them with love and encouragement ... We will move forward as a community."

More than 30,000 people frantically packed up belongings Tuesday night as the flames swept through their neighborhoods. While there's no indication yet the blaze claimed any lives, fire officials said they would search each home looking for possible remains.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation said two people have been arrested in connection with a burglary at an evacuated home. Belinda Yates and Shane Garrett were being held on charges including second-degree burglary and possession of methamphetamine.

Community officials were planning to begin the process of notifying residents Thursday that their homes were destroyed. For many residents, the official notification was a formality.

Residents recognize their street on aerial pictures and carefully scrutinize the images to determine the damage. Photos and video from The Associated Press and the Denver Post showed widespread damage.

Colorado Springs, the state's second-largest city, is home to the U.S. Olympic Training Center, NORAD and the Air Force Space Command, which operates military satellites. They were not threatened.

Conditions were still too dicey to allow authorities to begin trying to figure out what sparked the blaze that has raged for much of the week and already burned more than 29 square miles.

President Barack Obama was to tour fire-stricken areas Friday as hundreds of locals and some tourists who were staying at Red Cross shelters hoped life would return to normal. Other stayed with friends and family.

Bill and Lois Bartlett said they believe their neighborhood was spared, but remained wary as they waited at a YMCA shelter set up by the Red Cross.

"I've been through a lot of stuff like this before but not in civilian life," said Bill Bartlett, who flew B-17 bombers during World War II.

His wife Lois said the Red Cross bought them two special cots to make them more comfortable but still found staying at the shelter difficult. "You don't have any privacy. You can't look at TV and get the news," she said.

The weather forecast offered some optimism for firefighters to make progress, with the temperature expected to reach into the mid-80s ? about 5 degrees cooler than Wednesday ? and humidity 15 to 20 percent, about 5 points higher. Winds were forecast to be 10 to 15 mph.

The fire blackened up to 50 acres along the southwest boundary of the Air Force Academy campus, said Anne Rys-Sikora, a spokeswoman for the firefighters. No injuries or damage to structures ? including the iconic Cadet Chapel ? were reported.

Fort Carson, an Army infantry post about 15 miles from the academy, sent 120 soldiers along with bulldozers and other heavy equipment to help clear a line to stop the fire on the academy. Rys-Sikora said the academy was not getting a disproportionate share of equipment and firefighters.

The Flying W Ranch, a popular tourist attraction near Colorado Springs, was severely damaged in the blaze. But authorities let people into the area to check on cattle. John Hendrix, who volunteers at the Flying W, said 47 animals were accounted for.

"Some of them are pretty scorched up, but they are still there. We didn't lose one," Hendrix said.

Among the fires elsewhere in the West:

? A 72-square-mile wildfire in central Utah has destroyed at least 56 structures and continues to burn with just 20 percent containment, authorities said. Officials expected the damage estimate to rise as they continue their assessment.

? The smaller fire near St. George started Wednesday and had grown to 2,000 acres by midnight, forcing some residents to evacuate. The fire was burning about three miles north of Zion National Park. At least eight structures were destroyed.

? Fire crews in southeastern Montana used a break in the weather to dig containment lines around two wildfires that have burned 200 square miles and dozens of homes. The improved conditions led to residents clamoring to be let back in to check their properties and assess the damage, but authorities kept evacuation orders in place for hundreds of people.

? A wildfire in the Bridger-Teton National Forest has grown from about 12,000 acres to 23,000 acres, or nearly 36 square miles, officials said.

? In northern Colorado, about 1,900 people were allowed back into their homes on Thursday more than two weeks after the devastating High Park Fire erupted. The blaze was 75 percent contained. The fire killed one woman and destroyed 257 homes, then a state record that was be eclipsed by the Colorado Springs fire.

North Carolina Sea Level Rises Despite Senators

    News | Energy & Sustainability

Less than two weeks after the state's senate passed a climate science-squelching bill, research shows that sea level along the coast between NC and Mass. is rising faster than anywhere on Earth

    From Nature magazine

Could nature be mocking North Carolina's law-makers? Less than two weeks after the state's senate passed a bill banning state agencies from reporting that sea-level rise is accelerating, research has shown that the coast between North Carolina and Massachusetts is experiencing the fastest sea-level rise in the world.

Asbury Sallenger, an oceanographer at the US Geological Survey in St Petersburg, Florida, and his colleagues analysed tide-gauge records from around North America. On 24 June, they reported in Nature Climate Change that since 1980, sea-level rise between Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, and Boston, Massachusetts, has accelerated to between 2 and 3.7 millimetres per year. That is three to four times the global average, and it means the coast could see 20?29 centimetres of sea-level rise on top of the metre predicted for the world as a whole by 2100 ( A. H. Sallenger Jr et al. Nature Clim. Change http://doi.org/hz4; 2012).

?Many people mistakenly think that the rate of sea-level rise is the same everywhere as glaciers and ice caps melt,? says Marcia McNutt, director of the US Geological Survey. But variations in currents and land movements can cause large regional differences. The hotspot is consistent with the slowing measured in Atlantic Ocean circulation, which may be tied to changes in water temperature, salinity and density.

North Carolina's senators, however, have tried to stop state-funded researchers from releasing similar reports. The law approved by the senate on 12 June banned scientists in state agencies from using exponential extrapolation to predict sea-level rise, requiring instead that they stick to linear projections based on historical data.

Following international opprobrium, the state's House of Representatives rejected the bill on 19 June. However, a compromise between the house and the senate forbids state agencies from basing any laws or plans on exponential extrapolations for the next three to four years, while the state conducts a new sea-level study.

According to local media, the bill was the handiwork of industry lobbyists and coastal municipalities who feared that investors and property developers would be scared off by predictions of high sea-level rises. The lobbyists invoked a paper published in the Journal of Coastal Research last year by James Houston, retired director of the US Army Corps of Engineers' research centre in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Robert Dean, emeritus professor of coastal engineering at the University of Florida in Gainesville. They reported that global sea-level rise has slowed since 1930 ( J. R. Houston and R. G. Dean J. Coastal Res. 27 , 409 ? 417 ; 2011) ? a contention that climate sceptics around the world have seized on.

Speaking to Nature, Dean accused the oceanographic community of ideological bias. ?In the United States, there is an overemphasis on unrealistically high sea-level rise,? he says. ?The reason is budgets. I am retired, so I have the freedom to report what I find without any bias or need to chase funding.? But Sallenger says that Houston and Dean's choice of data sets masks acceleration in the sea-level-rise hotspot.

North Carolina is not the only hotspot for efforts to legislate away the reality of sea-level rise. In 2011, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality removed all references to rising sea levels from a scientific study of Galveston Bay on the Gulf of Mexico. And this month, the Virginia General Assembly passed a bill commissioning a study on rising sea levels ? but only after references to sea-level rise and climate change had been removed.

Cyprus bailout may equal half its economy

Cyprus, the fifth euro zone country to seek emergency funding from Europe, may need a bailout of up to 10 billion euros ? over half the size of its economy ? officials said on Tuesday.

The Mediterranean island, with a banking sector heavily exposed to debt-crippled Greece, said on Monday it was formally applying for help from the European Union's rescue funds.

Cyprus is the euro zone's third smallest economy but it joins Greece, Ireland, Portugal and Spain in seeking EU rescue funds to try and stay afloat, and is the latest sign that policymakers have failed to stop the debt crisis spreading.

European leaders will meet at a summit on Thursday and Friday but they are not expected to come up with a lasting solution to the region's problems that have also sent Italy's borrowing costs soaring.

    Exact amount undecided
Two euro zone officials said that a package of up to 10 billion euros was being considered for the 17.3 billion euro Cyrpriot economy.

"The exact number has not been decided yet. It was to be 6 billion for the state financing and 2 billion for the banks but that is optimistic ? it is more likely to be seven and three ? up to 10 billion euros in total," one euro zone official said.

A second official confirmed the amount was likely to be up to 10 billion euros, a massive bill for Cyprus.

    Designated Greek finance minister resigns

Cyprus needs to plug a 1.8 billion euro regulatory capital shortfall in its second largest lender by June 30. Potential aid could be more comprehensive to cover fiscal requirements, Finance Minister Vassos Shiarly told Reuters.

Cyprus is thought to have applied to the EU for aid after exhausting attempts to secure loans from either China or Russia. Those efforts, however, will be ongoing.

"We will continue efforts to secure a bilateral loan, which can be used accordingly," government spokesman Stefanos Stefanou said.

    Out of touch with reality?
Cyprus has been shut out of international capital markets for more than a year, with yields on its 10-year benchmark bond over 16 percent on Tuesday. Sidestepping EU aid earlier, it secured a 2.5 billion euro loan from Russia in late 2011.

Soccer gets political as Greece seeks revenge on paymaster Germany

President Demetris Christofias, whose administration has been slammed by opposition for dragging its feet in both applying to the EU and taking measures earlier to shore up the island's flagging economy, was to brief politicians later on Tuesday.

Christofias has been accused by the opposition of being out of touch with reality and ignoring warning signs that the economy was in trouble, suggestions the government strongly denies.

The bailout request comes as Cyprus prepares to assume the rotating EU presidency on July 1.

"It is a tragic coincidence," Cyprus Parliamentary speaker Yiannakis Omirou told state radio.

Direct link between New.FamilySearch.org and Family Tree - Yes

FamilySearch Family Tree was introduced at the RootsTech Conference as a replacement for New.FamilySearch.org. Since February and RootsTech, there have been incremental changes to Family Tree. Now there is a direct link in New.FamilySearch.org inviting users of that program to move to the Family Tree program. The link in found in the Sources selection in New.FamilySearch.org and states:
As an aside, a lot of confusion could be avoided if FamilySearch would be a little more judicious in using the term "new" for everything. I find a lot of confusion between the new FamilySearch Family Tree and New.FamilySearch.org. See what I mean?

Back to the subject. Apparently, anyone who tries to view a source or enter another source into New.FamilySearch.org will be directed to Family Tree.? You get a view of the existing sources and when you close the window, this message pops up.

I am noticing that additional inaccurate information keeps being posted to Family Tree all the time. I cleaned up a couple of my ancestors only to find a long list of additional wrong information added to the site. Looks like a full time job with overtime.

Amazing to Healthy Relationships - Can Tantric Yoga Increase Your ...

Sexuality is our strongest primal force and a reflection from the great dualities of nature. Dealing with the universal polarity as a way to get to the pure unity of consciousness behind oahu is the foundation of Tantric Yoga. This procedure and benefits you will get from this are explained by expert practitioner, Dr. David Frawley. I've presented popular features of his interview which appeared in Tathaastu Magazine.

What exactly is Tantric Yoga and why should you practice it?

It's a meditative experience that gives many benefits. It includes unfolding the Divine powers within ourselves, the inner god and goddess, whose natures are the light and energy of consciousness.

Exactly what are both of these primal powers?

Dr. Frawley says there's 2 main Tantric symbols - Shiva Linga and Shakti Yoni. On a biological level, they're symbols of sexual energy, male and female, but this is the small portion of their capability.

Shiva Linga can be a phallic symbol of masculine stability, strength and endurance, that is reflected in the cosmic masculine principle, values and virtue.

In yoga philosophy, the term "linga" means the subtle body which is reborn, not the physical body. The linga can be a place where energy takes place, generated and sustained.

Shakti Yoni means the womb or creative center of an woman. It's greater symbolism is also a cave, a valley, a spot of origin and a matrix of your time and space. It's a horizontal force.

Whereas the Shiva Linga can be a vertical force represented in high altitude climates, thunderclouds, the tree, the upright human because the ascending energy of consciousness and life as the name indicated. It is often viewed as a pillar of light, an erect spine and Prana life force.

How must the Linga And Yoni relate?

They always go together on how much opposites, like the valley to mountains, meadows to forests, water to fireplace, woman to man.

Uniting the linga as well as the yoni isn't just matter of sexuality but of uniting the centrifugal force (linga) with centripetal force (yoni), or uniting the electric force of Shiva with all the magnetic (attractive) force of Shakti. It really is uniting the center Prasara Primer Review with all the periphery, so that the One as well as the Infinite merge in a single experience.

Is there a meditative example of the Linga as well as the Yoni?

Shiva linga in yogic meditation is of an pillar of light, energy, peace and eternity, expanding your head, opening the inner eye and bringing deep tranquility and steadiness for the heart.

Dr. Frawley states that to hold your awareness in the potency of the linga is the place you develop unwavering concentration and inner peace.

How must these polarized forces affect sexuality?

Human sexuality is one kind of many manifestations from the cosmic forces of duality, of an greater Divine sexuality as it were. Dr. Frawley recommends we learn to begin to see the cosmic energy behind human sexuality. "Unless it's possible to meditate deeply upon the linga as well as the yoni because the dual Divine powers behind all existence, you've got not yet developed a real idea of yoga." He concludes, "We've got to learn to uncover the Divine union from the dual great cosmic powers in all of the we can easily see or imagine."

You may notice your intimate partner as being a force of great cosmic powers, the chemistry you spark will likely be simply divine.

Turkey aims for NATO help with Syria (+video)

Following Syria's downing of a Turkish jet on Friday, officials in Turkey are looking to NATO for assistance. Syrian officials claim their act was one of self-defense. ??

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, right, arrives for a cabinet meeting in his office in Ankara, Turkey. Upon Turkey's request, NATO will hold a meeting Tuesday in Brussels over article 4 of its charter concerning Friday's incident, when a Turkish warplane was shot down by Syria.

Turkey is to demand backing from its NATO allies on Tuesday at a special meeting called after Syrian troops shot down a Turkish warplane last week in an incident Damascus said was self-defence but which Ankara branded an "act of aggression".

Sarah Irwin reports.

It is only the second time in NATO's 63-year history that it has convened under Article 4 of its charter which provides for consultations when a member state feels its territorial integrity, political independence or security is under threat.

Turkey rejected assertions from Damascus that its forces had no option but to fire on the F-4 jet as it flew over Syrian waters close to the coast on Friday.
In a letter to the U.N. Security Council, Turkey condemned the "hostile act by the Syrian authorities against Turkey's national security", saying it posed "a serious threat to peace and security in the region".

Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc told a news conference Syria's actions "would not go unpunished".

The incident has further heightened tensions between Turkey and Syria already strained to near breaking point over the 16-month uprising against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's rule.

Though not known for his restraint, Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan has so far been measured in his response, perhaps due to Western reluctance to commit to any military action and wary himself of anything that could trigger a regional sectarian war.

European Union foreign ministers called on Monday for Turkey to show restraint, saying they would increase pressure on Assad.

"Military intervention in Syria is out of the question," said Dutch Foreign Minister Uri Rosenthal.

After a seven-hour Turkish cabinet meeting in which an air force chief gave a detailed briefing on Friday's incident, Arinc said Erdogan would make an announcement on Syria on Tuesday.

Syria's description of the event as an act of self defence, though tempered with commitment to a "neighbourly relationship", seemed likely to further anger Ankara.

    Act of Defence?

"The plane disappeared and then reappeared in Syrian airspace, flying at 100 metres altitude and about 1-2kms (0.6-1.2 miles) from the Syrian coast," Syrian Foreign Ministry spokesman Jihad Makdissi told a Damascus news conference.

"We had to react immediately, even if the plane was Syrian we would have shot it down," he said. "The Syrian response was an act of defence of our sovereignty carried out by anti-aircraft machinegun which has a maximum range of 2.5 km."

Syria warned Turkey and NATO against retaliating.

"NATO is supposed to be there to strengthen countries," said Makdissi. "If their meeting is for hostile reasons (they should know that) Syrian land and waters are sacred."
