A new study shows 34.5 percent of children in San Diego County are overweight or obese, according to California Center for Public Health Advocacy and the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research.
The study, which includes an analysis of more than 250 U.S. cities, shows an average of 37 percent of East County San Diego children are overweight or obese, just above the county average, and just below the California average of 38 percent.
